My name is Evan Petro and I am currently a senior at LHU, majoring in sports administration. I play baseball here at the university and I enjoy going to the gym and watching ESPN.
I grew up in the old steel town of Johnstown, PA and have been living there all of my life. I went to Richland High School and played 3 sports; football baseball, and basketball. In high school my goals were to go to college and play baseball and earn a degree. I am 2 semesters away from graduating and playing college baseball has been a great experience for me. After my undergrad I haven’t decided if I will further my education but that decision will be made in the near future.
Technology has definitely been a big part of my life the entire way through my education. In middle school I had my first taste of computers in word processing class. After learning that I could type at a high level I started playing with computers even more and learned the various applications they provide. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel are the three applications that have helped me through high school and college. Every paper and presentation I am responsible for comes from my computer.
The internet is another huge tool in my learning over the years. I have done countless research papers using the internet as my main source. In addition to research, email and instant messaging are other vital tools the internet provides. Although these two tools can be used in a recreational way they also provide easy means of communication between group members or professors so work can be done in a timely fashion.
Technology is a very key aspect in teaching as well. If I should ever teach I would say that I would use the internet to list my assignments and directions. I would also probably have my own personal website with contact information and a list of answers to frequently asked questions.
